about the n.o.p. life

the n.o.p. life started as a photo blog about life north of Princess St in Kingston, ON. I moved to Kingston in May 2010 for a 12 month internship and a chance to have a life again after spending more than enough time dedicated to my school work. There were some preconceptions about what a life north of Princess is like. But I knew I wanted my nop life to be crafty, delicious, beautiful, and above all, happy. It was all of those things (except maybe crafty). And even though I only visit my n.o.p. home now, I still live the n.o.p. life as much as possible.

baking cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are so easy to make and so much FUN to make. I am still perfecting my recipe but it's getting close. My ideal chocolate chip cookie is crispy chewy, not cakey and not too crisp. I also don't like having too much chocolate in them. I always use about half the chocolate chips the recipe says to put in. And I don't actually use chocolate chips - I chop up baker's chocolate into chunks and shavings instead. I don't always use my mom's fancy sel de mer, but this time I did. Shhh, don't tell.

The cookie dough camouflaged into my mom's kitchen counter
This was breakfast. Had it with coffee and the paper.
